This Friday, August 1st, the path of the moon shall pass through between the Earth and the sun, resulting in a Solar Eclipse. Awesome, I know. Follow it all with Google Earth (just like NASA does).

Treking for Good

Trek wants you to Pledge to "Go by Bike." This campaign features a widget to calculate just how many miles you will pledge to bike per month. If you pledge, you have the chance to win a Trek bike (one being given away every day through August 31st). Offline, make sure to bike up to one of the Trek Stop Cycling Convenience Centers (currently protoypes) where riders can get everything they need at any time to continue their journey. A great campaign by a cool company. And the bikes are pretty clazzy, as well.

"The Office" Takes on Scranton, PA

You may have Andy Bernard's car, but unless you were in Scranton, PA this past weekend you missed a real "The Office" experience. Fans gathered to compete in "The Office Games"  to promote the official launch of "The Office" DVD Board and Trivia games. There was a beet eating competition, a "The Office" trivia contest and a meet-and-greet with Mindy Kaling (Kelly Kapoor). All proceeds from the day long event went to the United Neighborhood Centers of Northeast Pennsylvania (UNC). Competition winners got Dwight Schrute bobble heads. While it's a no-brainer to host this launch event in Scranton, PA, the real success was how the promotion effectively got people to talk about and share the brand while doing something good for the community. That deserves a Dundie, as least.

On the weekend celebrating our nation's independence, Coke Zero shows that it bleeds caffeinated (yet non-caloric) red, white and blue. If any one of the Coca-Cola sponsored drivers wins this weekend at Daytona then everyone in America wins a free Coke Zero. You will just need to visit CokeZero.com and print out a coupon...so really its for everyone in America with internet access. But still, America, how can you beat that? Cheer on Tony Stewart, David Ragan and Greg Biffle (they are on my fantasy NASCAR squad).

Someone once told me that the best marketing doesn't feel like marketing at all. With that being said, I have no idea what is going on with this viral video that is apparently Kanye West promoting Absolut.
